Brian K Morgan - HitShack Entertainment: Brian K. Morgan - As a kid, he’d watch the church organist at First Baptist Church in Englewood, NJ and would think to himself “Boy, I want to learn how to play the organ!” so his mother bought a Magnus organ for him at the age of 3. He learned a few basic chords by listening to his grandmother play piano. Then one day he saw the prominent B.B. King play on TV and thought, “Boy, I want to learn how to play the guitar!” So his mother bought him his first guitar at the age of 10. But there was one problem; he had no one to teach him, so he taught himself. He started right away and soon learned to play the bass guitar and drums as well. And this is the origin of the musical prodigy, Brian K. Morgan. Today Brian is a heavily sought after artist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, writer, performer and composer. Whether producing/writing or performing for Whitney Houston, George Benson, Juanita Bynum, Kashif, Lauryn Hill and others, or playing guitars, keyboards or drums while touring Europe with the stage version of the hit movies Sister Act I & II, he’s sure to raise a few eyebrows. His career accomplishments are as varied as his music, which include Jazz, R&B, Funk & Gospel, to name a few genres. He’s also a mastermind in production work. His outstanding writing and production work is evident in projects with Jennifer Holliday (Dreamgirls), Melba Moore, Gwen Guthrie and Me’lisa Morgan. Brian’s live show experience took off at the tender age of 11 when his innovative creativity earned him an opportunity to perform at an outdoor festival in Englewood, New Jersey with the Isley Brothers’ keyboard player, Ronnie Scruggs. One year later, he was asked to join a touring group, SpoonBread, who had two major hits, “How To Mend A Broken Heart” and “Make It With You”. He also toured with jazz vocalist Leon Thomas, Surface, Glen Jones, Johnny Kemp and the West St. Mob. Throughout high school, he was able to play with a few gifted fellow classmates: Bernard Belle (Producer/Writer/Musician – Michael Jackson/Guy)….Regina Belle (R&B/Pop Vocalist)….Cindy Mizelle (Background vocalist – Luther Vandross/Rolling Stones)….Gordon Chambers (Producer/Writer ) and Carl Lester El (Guitarist – Will Downing), while studying under John Purcell (saxophonist with Dave Sanborn) He went on to study Music Education at North Carolina Central University under Jazz trumpeter Donald Byrd. Shortly after, he released his own solo 12” project on Clockwork Records entitled “Wanna Love Ya”. His limitless talents carried him into writing and producing works for television commercials such as Dark N Lovely and General Motors. Of course, he didn’t stop there. He co-wrote/co-produced/performed a Brooke Shields movie soundtrack and Rocky IV soundtrack. He and his fellow writing and production partners, were nominated for a Grammy (Best R&B Instrumental).
