Born: April 10, 1947, Jamaica
One of the true 'souls' of the original Jamaican reggae group The Wailers, who grew up in the same household as Bob Marley- with whom he founded the band along with Pete Tosh.
As the most productively spiritual of the members over the years he ran his own label Solomonic, recording mainly in the 'roots' style with political and spiritual messages reflecting his beliefs in the Rastafari faith.
He has won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in the years 1990, 1994 & 1996. His most recent releases on Solomonic are World Peace in 2003 and The Wailers Legacy in 2006. As of 2009 he resides on a farm in St. Thomas, Kingston, Jamaica.
