CJ Daft is artist name of Marko Aamunkajo. His ambition for good music goes beyond the 'electronic' sound of Global Groove System and can be heard throughout his various productions. Working as a solo artist Marko concentrates on bringing the sound of Electro, House and Dance today and tomorrow to the public through his unique approach - breaking the standard in his way.
Marko's interest to electronic music started at an early age through his brother who had invested in Roland SH-101 mono synth and Boss CR-8000 drum computer. The sound of 80's artists such as Depeche Mode, New Order and Pet Shop Boys intrigued him into the world of synth pop. His passion was to play and sing at school bands and to learn and write songs on his own.
90's house and dance music had a huge influence on him. Listening to radio shows, growing into fast paced rhythms and catchy melodies Marko soon realized he could replicate some of those sounds on his minuscule setup, taking the first steps into sound programming and producing.
In year 2000 he applied to polytechnic in North Carelia to study media arts and sound engineering. At school he was introduced to local club scene and soon started developing his sound more and more towards dancefloors. Marko's interest was to take music out of its form and make it his own. His songwriting talent became apparent and he was soon asked for remixes and collaborations. At that time Marko had found Cubase as his main tool and he slowly started crafting his skills as sound engineer, producer and artist.
Dutch label ID-T came attracted to his sound and wanted to support CJ Daft, unfortunately closing down their dance department while working on the release. His producer friend Robert Verkerk stayed however and asked Marko to help with music forums such as DanDont.com and Producerface.com. It soon became success and Marko found to be working with a group of talented people with similar interests, working on remixes and collaborating worldwide.
In summer 2009 Ruben Pruntel and Marko released their first collaborative tracks through Only4Money records under their electro house project Global Groove System. Working on remixing for other artists such as Phonk & House, Marko has slowly started to rebuild his solo career as CJ Daft.
