Cannibus

Jamaica born, NY based US rapper. Made his name on the underground freestyle & battle circuits, guesting on Cassette & CD mixtapes by DJ Clue and Ron G in the mid 90's. First spotted guesting on tracks by The Lost Boyz (the infamous "Beasts From The East" classic last verse), Common and LL Cool J. Gained notable exposure due to a fued between himself & LL Cool J, where it was alledged that Canibus insulted the Queens rapper by asking to "borrow" the mic which is a tatto on LL Cool J's arm. Each rapper recorded numerous diss tracks & subliminal messages during this landmark battle. Many people regard this battle as the beginning of the revival of the rap battle/beef era that lasted for 10 more years. Whilst some wuold say that Canibus won that battle, others would say that LL won the war (due to Canibus's near dissapearance from "Gold-selling artist" to the East Coast underground).

Since the battle Canibus has released several albums (some well received, critically, and others not so much) & joined the army to fight in Iraq. Currently still making music.
