Carcass

Profile:
Starting out as a three-piece, Carcass were one of Earache's grindcore flagships. they achieved most success with the addition of a second guitarist on 1992's "Necroticism" album. things started to go wrong for them after their first album on major label Columbia, "Heartwork", and they split up recording the album "Swansong".
Reformed for live shows in 2007 with Mike Amott back in as second guitarist. Since Ken Owen had suffered a brain haemorrhage and he is hence unable to perform the songs, Daniel Erlandsson of Arch Enemy was recruited as session drummer.

They were on Red dwarf once, with Bill on drums, Jeff on bass and Lister from the show on vocals

Unlike a lot of metal bands, Carcass were interesting for a little longer than five minutes thanks to their over-the-top lyrics, record sleeves that featured collages of cadavers from medical textbooks and persistent rumours that the band were real medical students.
These days they're the poster boys for "the band who created this or that" and a buzz word for hipsters who are told by rags like Kerrang! that Necrotism is the most important extreme record ever made (it's not).
The Carcass had begun to stink by the time they were name-dropped on US shitcom 'Friends', though I felt that post Symphonies the boredom was already setting in. I blame that Amott bloke - Swedish guitarists can kill your band; they're a joke these days.
