Founded in Wellington in 1999 in the wake of the murder of their friend Zathan, the Carnys rose to become New Zealand's premier all-female hardcore punk band, playing up and down the country.
The core line-up was Lisa Lucifer on bass/vocals, Sian Sabotage on guitar/vocals and Sammy Vulture on violin. The original drummer was Kitty. After she left she was replaced by Jana Java. For some gigs they even had male drummers.
The Carnys are no longer active.
