Profile:Claudio Simonetti, composer, producer and keyboard player was born in Sao Paulo in Brazil (February 19, 1952). He studied piano and composition in the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome.

Claudio started his recording carrer with a group called GOBLIN; he wrote and recorded the soundtrack of the film 'Profondo Rosso" ( Deep Red) directed by Dario Argento, which sold 3 millions copies in 1975 and "Roller" (1976).

With GOBLIN he also wrote and recorded the soundtrack for: "Suspiria" (directet by Dario Argento, 1977) and "Dawn of the dead" directed by George C. Romero, a great box-office success in the USA in the 1978. After two more albums the group split up in 1978.

Claudio started his solo carrer and began to work as a producer. In the 1978 he produced and wrote songs for the band EASY GOING; the song "Baby, I love you" set the beginning of a long story of success of Italian Dance Music abroad. In the 1979 the song "Give me a break" sung by VIVIEN VEE, composed and produced by Claudio Simonetti, reached the top in the American charts.

In the 1981 he enters the European market with the songs "Kasso" and 'Walkman", which went gold in France and in the same year Claudio release his first solo album simply entitled "Claudio Simonetti". In 1982 he writes the soundtrack for Argento's film "Tenebrae".

One of the most prestigious events in Claudio's career took place in January 1984 when he was called to write the songs for an orchestra of more than 50 young musicians, which he also directed, in the TV show "Happy birthday, TV", a show which celebrated 30 years of existence of the Italian Broadcasting Corporation RAI: all the important stars of television took part in the show. This experience led to two more studio performance "I love the piano" and "Jamaican Style" released in the USA by Salsoul Records.

The successful collaboration with the director Dario Argento continues in 1984 with the soundtrack "Phenomena" (Creepers), in 1985 "Demons" and in 1988 with "Opera". All these records reached the top in the Italian charts.

After years of live concerts with his group, Claudio Simonetti has recorded in 1991 the album called: "SIMONETTI HOOROR PROJECT".
In the first few weeks after its release the album has sold more than 120.000 copies and it is at the top of all the Italian charts. It is an album of Rock-Horror music; it includes all the most famous song written for Argento's films presented in totally new versions: Two versions of 'Profondo Rosso", Rap Hip-hop and a Rock live version and Phenomena, Suspiria, Tenebrae, Opera, Demon, Craws.
"SIMONETTI HORROR PROJECT" is also avaiable on a 47-minutes Home Video which contains all the ten songs of the album; the video was recorded in a theater where Simonetti and his group staged a powerful performance, completed by suggestive effects and images taken from horror films.

In 1992 his new album is released: "SIMONETTI HORROR PROJECT II - Days of confusion" which contains a new versions of "1997-Escape from New York", "Carmina Burana", "Albinoni's Adagio", "Blade Runner' and new songs: "I'll take the night", "Searching" and "To Federica".
In 1993 "Dario Argento's Horror Movies" was released.


In 1996 Simonetti release the CD: "X-TERROR FILES" (more than 200.000 copies sold) which contains all the new versions of most famous "Horror" soundtracks like: "X-Files", "Twin Peaks", "Halloween", "1997-Escape from New York", "Blade Runne", "Tubular Bells" and all Dario Argento's soundtracks.

In April 1997, Claudio Simonetti releases the new album entitled "CLASSICS IN ROCK" where Simonetti re-arrange in "rock progressive" style famous classical themes like: "Moonlight", "To Elisa" (Beethoven), "Air on the 4th string" and "Toccata and fugue" (J.S.Bach), "Bolero" and 'Pavane" (Ravel ),"Carmina Burana" (Orff), "Symphony N° 40" (Mozart) and many others.

In 1998 Simonetti records and produces the soundtrack for the U.S.A. film 'The Versace Murder" directed by Menahem Golan. In the same year Claudio releases the CD "The end of Millenium". The CD contains "The best of Claudio Simonetti" plus 6 more new tracks never released before.

2000: In March, Simonetti with his new band called "DAEMONIA", release, with S4/Sony Music, a CD called "DARIO ARGENTO TRIBUTE". The CD contains 13 new versions of most famous soundtracks of Dario Argento's movies, played with the band and a Symphonic Orchestra.

2001: Simonetti and the Goblin old line up (Massimo Morante alla chitarra, Fabio Pignatelli al basso, Agostino Marangolo alla batteria) write and record the soundtrack for Dario Argento's movie "Non Ho Sonno" and with Daemonia he released "Live or Dead".
