Was Clement "Coxsone" Dodd a genius? This is hard to say, probably not a musical genius, perhaps more a business genius or an inspiration to others. However, his towering influence over Jamaican music is unparallelled. Just take a look at this list of artists that cut their teeth at Coxsone's legendary Studio One Studios and it becomes obvious that he had something special; The Skatalites, Jackie Mittoo, Ernest Ranglin, Don Drummond, Roland Alphonso, Tommy McCook, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, The Maytals, Marcia Griffiths, The Heptones, The Ethiopians, Burning Spear, The Abyssinians, Augustus Pablo, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sugar Minnot, Denis Alcapone, Willie Williams, Freddie McGregor, Ken Boothe, Horace Andy, Derrick Harriot, Dennis Brown and many, many more.
