Ambient chill space motion electronica electro techno minimal down tempo....short for electronic music.
Robert Solheim, a self-taught musician, composer and dreamer since forever. Born on a small island on the west coast of Norway, he grew up between the sea, the mountains and the music; Both parents singing and/or playing an instrument. Not quite sure what instrument to play he started out learning the organ, then played drums in a band for a while and eventually fell in love with a synthesizer called Jupiter 8, moved into the world of electronics, and started to paint his own musical landscapes.
Since then he has released 5 albums as Current, the first 3 on the Norwegian label Origo Sound and the last ones on his own label CurrentMusik. In march 2008 album 'Telepatia' as 1/2 of Aquavit together with Michael Snyder aka eidetaker, EP 'Anatomy of a plastic girl' together with Billie Ray Martin as 1/2 of The Opiates also in March 2008.
“Ghost Trip” from the album “Communion” was voted the 7 of 100 best Electronic Music tracks in the magazine E-dition together with other artists like Kraftwerk, New Order, David Sylvian, Biosphere and Ugress, and it became editors pick when it came out in 2003. Derek Sivert said “For the ambient electronic fan, these liquidy, rich and imaginative tracks are like a bubble bath for your brain.”
In 2005 “underCURRENTs”, a double album of unreleased material was nominated best ambient album and a track from the album “Waking up slowly” nominated best ambient track by “Just Plain Folks Music Awards 2006”. It came out as number 4.
Currently also working as a DJ under the name AkkuratD as well as producing remixes and techno/electro/minimal electronica.
