Reviews & Discussion

Review by joeldukes Apr 04, 2010
DJ DAN is the best at spinning funky/club/party tunes. Ever since his days as part of Funky Tekno Tribe all the way through the totally new school but equally bad-ass Lift series. I never listened to a mix of his that I didn't like or eventually buy. Early releases like Urb mix vol.2, Loose Caboose, Beats for freaks, and funk the system, are still among my favorites. Even with some of the slower tempo, and breaks mixed in, It is DEFINITIVE west coast shit. His talent and taste for straight up party music have developed into a mastery of gettin' hands up and asses movin'.Later on he explored a little bit more reflective, almost trancey, progressive house with In Stereo, and Roundtrip(doubledisc). More Recently with the releases of Accelerate, Live at Ruby Skye, and the aforementioned Lift series he has returned to the completely bass throbbing funk party vibe, even more vocals sprinkled in but not enough to deter one who loves his house loud and dirty.Dan if you read this, keep making music pleeeze, the game needs you.
