DJ Delmundo

Real Name:
Wilbert van Diepenbroek
Profile:
Wessel van Diepen was born on 12-11-1966 in Delft, Holland. He was the youngest from a family of 4 children. He was together with 3 sisters and his parents had a little store in of Delft. When Wessel was 15 his parents divorced. Later, when Wessel was 17 years old, he visited his old school-friend in Wichita, Kansas, United States. He met a DJ from the radio-station "KKRD". Wessel and this DJ became very good friends so when this DJ had a vacation, Wessel started to play as a DJ at "KKRD" for a period of three months. But this was not the first time for Wessel on the radio.

When he was 15 years, he had together with a friend, an illegal radio-station called "Radio Stad Delft". Later he met Radio 3FM DJ Rob Stenders and so he came in contact with some Dutch radio-stations in Hilversum. Rob Stenders had a tape with the voice from Wessel on it and Rob send this tape to the radio-stations "AVRO" and "VARA". Both radio-stations send an invitation to Wessel, because they both want Wessel as a DJ at their station. Wessel deceided to choose to work as a DJ at the "VARA".

Later Wessel van Diepen had contact with "VERONICA" because they wanted Wessel for some radio and TV programms. So when Simone Walraven quited with the "COUNTDOWN"-show, Wessel was the one who took over the show. When Erik de Zwart and Lex Harding started RADIO 538, Wessel wanted to go with them. Wessel had some very successful programms at RADIO 538 like "Van Diepen's Dance Department". When Dutch music-channel TMF (The Music Factory) was launched there was ofcourse Wessel van Diepen. He was VJ for the famous show: "Wessels Woelige Wereld" (something like: "Wessels Wild World").
In 1999 Wessel stopped at TMF because he was very busy with producing music. Wessel's alter ego is "DJ Delmundo". He works together with Dennis van den Driesschen. Dennis' alter ego is "Danski". They are the producers behind the very successful Vengaboys-project. In the last few years, the Vengaboys sold over 10 million singles, went platinum in 73 countries and they performed in more than 130 different countries!

Other succesful projects from Wessel van Diepen were: Lick Featuring Kentucky Marth, Luvspunge (both together with producer/remixer Peran van Dijk), E-Motion and Nakatomi (both together with Dennis "Danksi" van den Driesschen).

Wessel has also his own record-company called "Violent Records".
