Reviews & Discussion

Review by DarkAge May 11, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
I remember that, at the historical 'Nova Dance' Radio Station, Mau Mau replaced (or was invited by) Renato Lopes sometimes. One day, he played an astonishing hardcore techno repertory, that included the breakbeat sensation 'Ace The Space - Your Special Attraction' (which is in the other side of '9 Is A Classic' twelve inch), and things like that.
Many of the hits played in Sra. Krawitz club by the residents Mau Mau & Renato Lopes were part of the repertories of 'Nova Dance', from Future Sound Of London's 'Metropolis - Metropolis', to 'Resistance D - Morning Sunrise', 'Cybordelics - Nighthorse', 'Jam & Spoon - Stella', among others.

One of the pioneers of the brazilian electronic music scene, Mau Mau started his career at the historical club Madame Satã, in São Paulo, at the second half of the eighties, largely influenced by the club scenes of cities such as London, Detroit, Chicago, Ghent, New York and the like. Since then, he has always been at the forefront of his scene, setting trends through his very unique groundbreaking sets whose repertories were a melting pot of musical styles (including House and Techno) with a lot of swing and groove.
As resident of Sra. Krawitz club, Mauricio Bischain – proclaimed as DJ Mau Mau by the godfather of the brazilian scene Marquinhos MS due to his bad boy repertories at that time - became one of the main responsible for spreading the Techno culture in Brazil, finally consolidated during his command at the Hell’s Club after hours, from 1994 to 1998, where he was finally transformed into a legend. Since 1995, Mau Mau has been elected every year the best Techno DJ of his whole country, acquiring the status of a legendary DeeJay.
Some of his biggest highlights (he has so many to tell, believe me) were his magnificent old school closing-set on Skol Beats Festival of 2002, the invitations to play with Renato Lopes at the Techno Parade of Paris the same year and the Sunday afternoon that he was celebrated during the AME Parade of 2003 in Brazil (these two parades having a public of about two hundred thousand people). Mau Mau has been the resident of Technova at Lov.e Club, and more recently of Open House (Europe), and has been playing regularly on venues like the Rex Club of Paris, and festivals such as Skol Beats, Brasilia Music Festival, and Sonar Brasil.
