D.J. Slip

Real Name:
Terry Allen
Profile:
DJ Slip started working with his father, Richard Allen, who in the early 80's owned his own sound equipment retail business. The two would provide sound equipment at various Southern California parties, clubs, dances, and shows for such groups as Uncle Jamm's Army, World Class Wreckin Cru, LA Dream Team, and many others. However Slip became more interested in creating music which would lead him to start producing beats which landed him a deal on DJ Unknown's Techno Hop label by 1987. The next year Slip and Unknown released a collaboration project under the name The X-Men. Slip's big break was when he was introduced to Comptons Most Wanted. In 1989 Slip single-handedly produced The Compton Compilation album for Alonzo Williams which featured Comptons Most Wanted. Soon Orpheus Records picked up the CMW demo and signed the group. Slip and Unknown handled most of the production for Comptons Most Wanted. After the sucess of "Streiht Up Menace", Slip helped produce much of MC Eiht's first three solo albums. Recently Slip is involved with the L.A. independent hip-hop label IV Life Records where he is still releasing new material.
