DJ Wag

Real Name:
Uwe Wagenknecht
Profile:
I started my DJ career in 1989 in a club called Lopos werkstatt in Darmstadt, where I was a resident DJ for four years. My predecessor DJ in that club was the producer of Culture beat (Mr vain) Torsten Fenslau. It was on his label (Abfahrt) I launched my first vinyl.

In the Airport Club (Dorian Gray) in Frankfurt I got to know DJ Talla 2xlc and produced on his labels (Suck me Plasma & Tetsuo) until 1997. Once in a while I was booked by Talla 2xlc for the legendary Technoclub/Dorian Gray, at that time as famous as the Gatecrasher club in England today.

I've been playing together with DJ's like Sven Väth, Taucher, DJ Dag, George Acosta, Talla 2xlc, Cosmic Gate, and many more

By playing at the club Aladdins close to Aschaffenburg in 1997 I came in contact with the label Overdose. My first DJ Wag single "Man on the Moon", released 1998, was a burner - probably known to any trance and hardtrance producer on this planet, even today. More titles followed, like "Life on Mars", "The Darkness", "The big bang"...

My second project (Yakooza) with Overdose is also very successful, with a mega club burner in many countries including the charts, titled "Cocaine".

Reviews & Discussion

I would catch DJ Wag DJing at Paramount Park (RIP), in Rodermark, Germany, from time to time! This guy rocks as a DJ...And he has made some legendary songs, too. I have all of his smash hits on vinyl! Speaking of vinyl, I hope he still spins on vinyl and produces with vinyl labels! And I hope the vinyl industry will "take back" power again! Cause, look at what the digital scene did to trance! Turned it to complete shit! I will never buy a download. Never.

This guy is a real hero. One of the producers who, just like Swiss genius Wavetraxx (Christophe Menzi) works out his ideas together with guys like Martin Roth and Mike Misar, but still manages to put into work his own kind of sound, comparable to DJ Scot Project's sound.

Uwe is a guy who always has good ideas and depending on whom he works with, his tracks always end up being original. As he has proved with The Day The Earth Caught Fire, he can also deal with a studio production on his own, without help. This makes him a leading figure in the German trance scene, because most dj's, and Germany is no exception, don't even have a clue how to make music with hard- and/or software and just pay others to write them a song...
