Review by TheAlex_1 Oct 16, 2003
One of my all time favorite groups. Patrick Forge, Christian Franck and Liliana Chachian are the core three along with Ollie Saville. WHen you look at the musicians, that's half the fun. There's like a six degrees of separation. Ollie Saville connects to Patrick Forge from the group "Batu", Da Lata connects with the group "Smoke City" thanks to Christian Franck and Nina Miranda. Da Lata connects to KV:5, who connects to Smoke City because of Marc Brown, and Da Lata did a remix of a KV:5 cut "Lies & Untruths" on the Da Lata Re-Mix album.

About Da Lata - they are a very talented group, and I cannot wait for them to come out with a new release. They focus on a more cultural and traditional side of Brazilian music, featuring samba, bossa and mixed/produced superbly by Patrick Forge with fresh new sounds and samples. Great percussion beats, a rich sounding and powerful vocalist in Liliana, and a master guitar player in Christian Franck. I recommend this album. Especially if you're a Smoke City fan.
