Dan Physics, a veteran DJ & Producer in the electronic music scene, has invested over 13 years to electronic music. Inspired by the early industrial music of Skinny Puppy, Front 242, Frontline Assembly, DAF and Nitzerebb among others.
His DJ sets are an educational experience as much as they are entertaining, typically spanning genres and years. Dan’s sets are described as a mix up of Techno, Industrial, and EBM, deep, grooving and dark.
For the last few years Dan Physics has been focusing increasing effort into studio production. Starting out at a young age of 4 learning to play Guitar and Piano, it was a logical step for him to begin writing electronic music. His accomplishments in that realm have been and continue to be well received, with releases on cult underground New York labels Hidden Agenda and Remains, as well as internationally on Crème Organization.
Dan Physics' current musical projects include a follow up EP for Crème Organization, a 4 track EP for 11th Hour Technologies, a remix for Ananamide Records, an Industrial Techno project with DJ Satronica from Things To Come Records, and a late summer release on Conrail Records.

For this humanist fellow, music is the universal principle that guides all our emotions. Raised in the city of Chicago, he belongs to a more recent generation of techno producers, though very attached to their roots, and whose involvement with electronic music goes farther back. Very conscious about his environment, he has been a part of the e-music scene since the late eighties, times when he could discover styles such as Electronic Body Music, Techno and, of course, Acid House. Later, he moved to New York to have more access to the global music scene, despite the historical notority of Chicago. “New York is the center of the Universe”, said Dan instantly in a recent interview, justifying his move. It seems that the World is always paying attention to the Big Apple, says the proverb. “The level of respect the World has for NYC is much greater than Chicago”, he claimed again. “It´s not that the chances to DJ in NYC are greater then Chicago...” Yes, he definitely has his reasons. Living in Brooklyn, he didn’t spare his words to tell a little further about New York: “It´s the place you come to sharpen yourself and your talents, because its so competitive here.. so once you have made an impact here in NYC, not only has that gained you a level of international notoriety but it prepares you for the pace of life anywhere else in the world.” Some time ago, more precisely the end of the last year, we met for a cup of coffee and a very nice conversation at Franz Cafe pub, on the west side of the city of Sao Paulo. He was passionate and anxious about the fact that he was going to play for the first time in Brazil, a scene considered like one of the fastest-growing worldwide. Only three months after that, he was excited again, eager for new gigs (he played again in places like Tostex and Rio). Very happy with the diversity of the brazilian scene and people, he mentioned the warm souls of this country, which is the main reason why we have been talking about several other subjects than the music. The scene, people’s behaviour and desires, the main challenges and obstacles, the politics – it was a long conversation divided in many different parts, about several aspects of the human life and culture – which it certainly would be unprobable on most of the interviews done with DJs or producers. Dan Physics considers himself a student of life, an eternal apprentice of which is, by the way, the principle that should guide all of us.
