Reviews & Discussion

Review by evansnewone May 14, 2003
Dave Seaman is absolutely amazing; his Global Underground albums have changed my whole perception of DJing and dance music as a whole. I still can't decide on a favorite album of his, but I have decided this -- his albums are my favorite.
Good progressive house records that are musically similar to one another are hard to find, but Dave pulls it off quite well on his GU albums and his well thought-out and precise mixes are even more incredible. His mixing is also varied, especially on "Buenos Aires"; for example, the first song on CD2, "One of the People," lasts for about 8 minutes, while the very next song, "Life in Minds," last only about 2 minutes before he masterfully and musically mixes out of it (they are in the same key).
In short, his adventurous and astoundingly unique style may not appeal to everyone, but it is that very fact that separates him from the mass-produced, people-pleasing pushover DJ's who play what everybody wants to hear. Dave makes no compromises in picking records he wants to spin, and his determination and musical integrity brilliantly show through on his ground-breaking GU albums.
