3. Raum

Real Name:
Andreas Krüger & Ralf Uhrlandt
Profile:
Der Dritte Raum ("The Third Room") is the alias of producer Andreas Krüger and live co-pilot Ralf Uhrlandt. It all began in 1994 when D3R signed to Sven Vath's legendary Harthouse label with the Mental Modulator release. Immediately they found their audience with a sound hovering somewhere between atmospheric trance and funky techno. D3R also became one of Germany's most loved live electronic acts for their fun and intense performances. After two full length releases and several singles with Harthouse, D3R signed to Virgin to release their biggest commercial hit, Hale Bopp, which was championed by DJ's such as Sasha and Digweed in the late 90s. Since the glory days of trance, D3R took on a more techno-influenced sound, but never really fit into any one genre, a testament to their diversity. Today, D3R produces for the revamped Harthouse Mannheim imprint and is booked by Sven's Cocoon agency.

Reviews & Discussion

"Polarstern" - what a massive tune, the kind of thing that really kicks you into eleventh gear when you're up up up and dancing on a hill somewhere and quite glad & happy just to let the facts & names of the records you hear just wash over your head 'cos they're all probably made by mad Germans anyway and you gotta just live for the moment (innit). Well - hey - guess what - I found out what this one is and it's "Polarstern" by Der Dritte Raum, so there.

one of the best from the legendary harthouse/eye-q crews! d3r was one of the acts that really got me into dance music and also one of the VERY FEW acts out there that can combine all sorts of genres to create an entirely new sound. analog funkiness, spacey arpeggios, straight-ahead rhyhtms and a super production value (whoever mastered their last album Klubraum should be thanked many times!) for a bit of nostalgia as well as tasteful interpretation of all the major dance genres Andreas is definitely your guy.
