The first Skinny Puppy side-project, Doubting Thomas, consisting of cEvin Key and Dwayne Goettel, had a short lifespan, surviving just three years. Due to the greater demands of Skinny Puppy, and the sad death of Goettel, only two releases saw the shelves: The Infidel and Father Don't Cry, between 1987-1990. Nonetheless, Doubting Thomas came to be featured on many compilations, and formed an important step between Skinny Puppy, and their other well-known side project Download. With a sound very reminiscent of Skinny Puppy and Download, Doubting Thomas is less harsh, less aggressive than the former, and not quite as abstract as the latter.
