Profile:
Edan Portnoy is a Rockville, Maryland raised MC, producer and turntablist also known as the Humble Magnificent. He has released 2 full albums, several 12" singles, remixes and mixtapes.

He has contributed beats for Mr. Lif, Murs, Akrobatic and Time Machine. A remix of Vast Aire & MF Doom's song "Superfriends" was beautifully reworked by Edan for Adult Swim's free "Chocolate Swim E.P." MP3 download. He has also collaborated on several projects with Cut Chemist.

Though he hasn't released an album in quite some time, he announced at ATP: The Fans Strike Back that he's releasing a new mix project in late 2009 called "Echo Party".

I saw this dude back in Two Thousand Two, and he cauterized my frontal lobes with quality and precision. The clincher was him rhyming and scratching simultaneously. My eyes rolled back, my ass fell off, and I woke up the following Tuesday in Schenectady, NY. I promptly hitched a ride from an ibis, flew to Fat Beats, and bought the Primitive Plus album. It was the best decision I made in that twenty four hours.

Someone who really elevated their skill level publicly in an almost magical transformation. This guy is a pure wizard when it comes to doing whatever he does nowadays.

Completely slept on by the mainstream and underground alike. A beatmaker who isn't afraid to be experimental and completely maintains the funk while doing so. I will be the first to tell you his "Beauty and the Beat" is what I consider to be the hiphop equivalent of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band" structurally.

What!!? Nobody's commented on this guy yet! amazing... In short, Edan is the man... proper hip hop, he's got the beats, the lyrics, the flow, the humour, the party attitude.. proper stuff..

Check his 'Primitive Plus' LP for an insight into just how great hip hop could be.. Also his production on the mr. lif track 'live from the plantation' helps make that one of the best tracks ever made (in my opinion).. Maximal respect..
