The Ensemble InterContemporain (EIC) is based in Paris, France. It was founded by Pierre Boulez and Jean Maheu in 1976 with the project to promote and disseminate contemporary music. This project is carried out in conjunction with a programme of public information and the training of young instrumentalists. Since its inception, the EIC has given the premières of more than 200 contemporary works.
