Young Turkish artist from Istanbul, born 1975.
During his high school years, he played electric guitar in many Istanbul-based rock and jazz bands. Then he got more involved in electronic and modern classical music. In 2001 he formed his own electronic band HAZ.
Helvacioglu won the 3rd prizes at 2002 and 2003 Luigi Russolo Eelectroacoustic Competition with his pieces "Blank mirror" and "Below the cold ocean", after his piece "Living in Istanbul" was among the finalists of this competition in 2001.
