Ernesto v/s Bastian

Real Name:
Edwin Koelewijn & Ernesto van der Meij
Profile:
The combination of a DJ with ten years experience (Ernesto van der Meij) and a equally experienced producer (Edwin Koelewijn) resulted in 2001 in the Dutch duo Ernesto vs. Bastian. Their style is trance and progressive and even a bit of pop. Their sound is influenced by everyone from Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and the Pet Shop Boys to early 80s soul, disco and funk. They host their own show at the web radio station ETN.fm.

The first start was with records like 'Lonely People' and 'Being Single' which both became Armin van Buuren's and Judge Jules' on-air track of the week. Ernesto and Bastian reached the UK single charts under their Poisonclub pseudonym with the single 'Ibeatza'. Labels like Gang Go (Blank and Jones Germany), Anjunabeats (UK) and Vale Music (Spain) signed their records. Also 'Who’s The Starter’ appeared in international dance charts but their biggest and most recent hit is 'Dark Side of the Moon'.

In 2004 Ernesto and Bastian wanted to bring their music to the stage and formed a band-like live-act. In the act that has developed from this, DJ Ernesto forms the base (playing instrumental tracks as well as beats and loops on his turntables) supported by the synths played by Bastian, the acoustic percussion and drums of Gerrie Spaansen and the singing of MC Vika Kova.
