Profile:
New Zealander Richard Francis has been recording under the name Eso Steel since 1995. His focus has been the collection, manipulation and arrangement of field recordings. Earlier works also incorporated instrumental drones and cd samples. For the last three years Richard has been living in Tokyo where he has been recording, performing live and running his label, 20 City, releasing works mainly by Japanese and New Zealand sound artists and groups.
