| Profile: | Since a child Evan has been heavily influenced by music. At the age of 15 Evan started his pursuit into the world of electronica. Having been influenced by greats such as John Digweed, Paul Van Dyk & Paul Oakenfold for starters, it gave Evan the inspiration to focus that much harder on music. In 1996 Evan began experimenting with various synths and hardware such as the Alesis QS6, Roland JP-8080, Roland MC-303, & Korg Electribe. Working with hardware and musical gear, it helped Evan to start producing tracks on his computer by integrating gear and software into musical production programs like Cubase SX & Cakewalk Sonar.
In 2002, Evan’s first breaks track entitled Ten Feet From Heaven gained major attention from multiple big name labels and djs. Jonathan Lisle and Chris Fortier were the first to support it. Promos of Ten Feet From Heaven were pressed and sent out to a handful of industry professionals and djs. Shortly after doing that, Ten Feet From Heaven was hammered by the one and only, John Digweed on KISS FM. Remix opportunities have opened up since then and it has given Evan the ability to bring new material to the table and define his sound. Evan’s unique style is getting more and more recognized in each new production. His love for dark tribal 4/4 is paralleled by his love for progressive breaks but the list goes anywhere from ambient film music to background sound FX for video games.
"Music is my psychiatrist," says Evan. "Making music based on my life situations has helped relieve a lot of tension. Music is how I express myself, whether through good times or through bad." Evan is currently busy in the studio working hard on new material and has multiple releases due out in 2004 and beyond.
Besides producing, Evan is also focusing on the record label Hunya Munya Records which he started with fellow producer & audio genius Dirk Bajema. Evan Marcus & Dirk Bajema began the conquest of empiring Hunya Munya Records back in 2002. Like so many others, the co-producers of 6 years, wanted to create their own trademark foundation on which to release quality music. The time span has developed into not featuring an immense quantity of tracks - but those only of sheer quality - those that "blow you away" creating an everlasting impact with the ear that caters for such a sound. With electronic music becoming a huge part of their lives, they wanted to put something back into the industry that had shepherd' them to this stage of knowledge and understanding. Support has been increasing internationally, which has help raise the profile from back-street to forefront - although the label is in teething stages - the evolution awaits. Artists featured on Hunya Munya’s growing roster include Blue Room Project, D Bajema, Evan Marcus, Madoka, Noel Sanger, Snake Sedrick & Khans, & Tim Fretwell.
