Exos

Real Name:
Arnvidur Snorrason
Profile:
The son of dub techno producer Octal.

Sometimes is difficult to imagine how far can go the extension of the frontiers of the electronic music scene, how many places can it reach around the globe. What are the limits for the spreading of the quality sound waves? Who can imagine how far can it go, how many life can it change forever? Even the most isolated lands were exposed to the sonorities charged with special contents, one time or another. Many miles from wherever you are is the land of Arnvidur Snorrason, located on the extreme north of Europe, most precisely Iceland. His influences, though, came from far, far away: “to name a few, I would mention Jeff Mills, Robert Hood and the Basic Channel of the duo Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus”, he claims very honestly.

Extremely connected to the electronic environment, Exos, whose philosophy was meant to represent a kind of “Undefined Flexible” line of production, absorbed very early the influences of the Detroit Techno productions. “Their sound floated around the world with massive influences. A huge ground for their music was elaborated in Europe, but not in the U.S. like with most Jazz producers. The thing is that the Detroit members held up a strong connection society, and that might be the reason for their spectacular consolidation”, he confessed, very addicted to their philosophy.

Reviews & Discussion

Review by Alain_Patrick Sep 05, 2004 (edited over 7 years ago)
Exos stands among those who represent the forefront of the electronic music nowadays. His musical masterpieces seem to be made for the intense listener. His abilites to build aesthetic minimal deep techno with dub and experimental influences impresses even the most experienced specialists. You can measure his artist potential by the density of the elements on his tracks. The musical conception of this musician suggests that he absorbed the philosophy of the Basic Channel crew of Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus of the beginning of the nineties, but expressed it in his own way.
Exos can go from the most experimental compositions to the more elegant underground dancefloor tunes, alway with a very particular sense of harmony, like 'Maya', one of the highest examples of total quality soundwaves...
