Real Name:
Craig Adams, David Wolfenden, Mark Copson, Carl Harper
Profile:
First formed in 1978, this Leeds based bands nucleus consisted of Craig Adams, David Wolfenden (later of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and The Mission) and Grape (later of 3000 Revs and Groovin' With Lucy).
After Supports to Echo & The Bunnymen and the The Teardrop Explodes they signed a one single deal for "about £400" with Zoo records. The first single "To See You" / "Frequency" was released in September 1979 and featured Grape (vocals), Wolfie (Guitar), Craig (Guitar/Keyboards) Mark Copson (bass) and Carl "Tich" Harper (drums).

Their upcoming band status earned them an invitation to record a session for John Peel. The seesion comprised of 4 tracks "Nasty Media", "Its Alright Mother", "Frequency" and "The Dashboard (killed me)"

Things started to go wrong with the band and Craig left not long after the release of their second single "Sympathy" / "Kicks" on Rockburgh Records in January 1980.

Expelaires recorded that session for the John Peel show on BBC Radio One in June 1979 before actually releasing their two singles on Rockburgh and Zoo.

The Rockburgh compilation LP Hicks From The Sticks was released in Germany simultaneously. John Peel had a two hour slot on Forces radio which went out over the FM transmitters in the regions where the British Army On Rhine was stationed. John Peel was rather influential in Germany just as well.
