As of writing, Franck Roger has been a very busy man with his label and his production. He seems not to fail much with a large release-rooster every year. But the man has his style. Many of the tracks i heard has some great percussions with all other elements evolving it. So with that recipe you get a track that works so perfectly for the floor. Personally i put questionmarks with such high-rate release output but the duds are so far between between them. Roger surely has found the formula and as of this year of 2008, the man has been on fire.

Franck Roger must be one of the discoveries of this years Winter Music Conference for those who didn't hear of him before (he had releases on Straight Up, Versatile and Needs Records before). Beside just being a DJ, he also produces wonderful music and presented not less than four vocal recordings, all featuring the soulful voice of the very talented Chris Wonder. "Something about you" has been picked by up Dino & Terry for their Crash label and comes on a smoothly bumpin' tip with lovely guitar and warm keys. Dino & Terry provide the remixes which are on a mellow tip with a jazzy edge and extra rhodes on the dub. "Reason" will be released on the french Straight Up Records and features a fierce groove together with jazzy keys and rhodes solo by M'Selem on the main version while the dub heats up things a bit with extra keys and phatter beats. Sunny Side Records will release "If I", a soulful song with r&b styled vocals and warm, harmonic melodies. Shade of Soul turn it into a soulful broken beat vibe. Finally, "No more believe" will be released on KenLou Records later this year. This production is based around a percussion based groove and has got a warm and laidback vibe to it.

There are some fine French labels and I have specially always loved the deep house sound of Basic, Basenotic and Straight Up. The labels have presented some great artists from DJ Deep, Julien Jabre, DJ Gregory, Playin' 4 The City, Next Evidence but also (at the time) less know producers who got some nice vibes going on and this is when I first noticed the name FRANCK ROGER. That was some years ago but 2003/2004 have been a breakthrough for him releasing some QUALITY records on Bettino's Record Shop, Straight Up, Versatile, Deeply Rooted and Kenlou. To me his productions are super tight, top drum programing creating some excellent grooves that clearly shows his knowledge of classic US Garage/House grooves. This guy is moving on up, I have really high hopes on what to come. Check his records out and I'm sure you will agree!
