F. Knuckles

Real Name:
Frank Warren Knuckles, Jr.
Profile:
Frankie Knuckles was born in the South Bronx of New York City on the 18th January 1955. He was the Dj from 1977 to 1982 at the Warehouse. It is widely accepted that his style of DJing and his selection and the appeal of the Warehouse gave house music its name, although in the beginning, the word 'house' was used only in Chicago to denote something which was cool, hip, fresh or bad. Frankie Knuckles had been long time friends with Larry Levan, they had had their musical upbringing together from going to clubs like Loft and the Gallery.

Reviews & Discussion

Not so much a review but sheer appreciation for probably the most influential House music DJ of all time. That may be a sweeping statement if you wish to consider more hip names like Tiesto / Picotto / Van Buuren et all. However if it wasn't for mr Knuckles House and Club music in all it's genres would not be where it is today. Frankie Knuckles is without doubt to the DJ and House Music scene what the Beatles were to Brit-pop and what Abba were to Euro-pop, how cheesey you may say but their influences and fans are worldwide. Only one man could in my opinion be mentioned in the same terms....Todd Terry - but that's another story!

Much is written about House Music and the likes of the legendary Paradise Garage and the wonderful Larry Levan. Frankie and Larry DJ'd together in New York before Frankie went to Chicago and kept Disco Music alive, after it had went mainstream globally and then became unfashionable in the early 1980's. He kept Disco alive by getting away from the fashion victims and industry in New York. Disco kept going in the Chicago clubs and then gave birth to House Music. We have much to thank Frankie Knuckles for, he is a living legend as far as I am concerned. Go out and listen to him play if you get a chance.

W.H.A.T???
NO comment on Frankie Knuckles so far??
This world is definitely going to its damnation...
Well to put it simple this man is sort of a godfather of house n garage, with a sound production always supermellow, deep, large, melodic, generous and melancolic.
Hello?? Your Love, Baby Wants To Ride, The Whistle Song, This Time, Where Love Lives, The Boy From Ipanema, Tears...???
These are the roots! eventhough some may consider Frankie's classic(al) music too soft and nice in these tuff dark timez...but never forget kidz : its all cyclical. So Frankie will be cool again some time soon when Wally Lopez, Tiesto and Franz Ferdinand will not even be allowed to bite the dust (too cool for 'em).
We are talking here about a dancefloor with humanity.
A great, deep, black, political, gay, generous artist.
