P-Orridge

Real Name:
Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (formerly Neil Andrew Megson)
Profile:
Born February 22, 1950 in Manchester, England as Neil Andrew Megson.

Cultural engineer, merry prankster, wrecker of civilisation, anti-Pope of the Temple ov Psychic Youth, musical pioneer, bizarre man/woman hybrid - Genesis P-Orridge is arguably one of the most important icons of alternative culture of the latter quarter of the 20th Century and beyond. With Coum Transmissions, he challenged social boundaries with art; with Throbbing Gristle, he played a part in fundamentally redefining music; as the core of Psychic TV, he brought this challenge to the mainstream, ultimately becoming a seminal influence on the dance music sub-culture in the UK. He courted controversy with pictures of his piercings in the RE:Search book "Modern Primitives", experimental video projects led to his eight-year exile from the UK, a near-death experience led to him engaging in extreme body modification, along with his new wife Lady Jaye, to become the pandrogyne. For over 30 years, Genesis has done the unexpected, challenged everything and he continues to do so.

In 2003, Genesis P-Orrdige changed his identity to Genesis/Djin Breyer P-Orridge along with life partner Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge (a.k.a. Mother Jack/Miss Jackie). He began a performance series called Breaking Sex that was initiated by both he and Lady J. Breyer. This project is about re-union and re-solution of male and female to a perfecting hermaphroditic state and has been named Pandrogeny by P-Orridge. The project includes having cosmetic surgeries that blur the lines between their sexes and bring them nearer to being one physically. He also relaunched Psychic TV as PTV3 in 2003.
