Henri Sattler created God Dethroned in 1991 along with three friends. "The Christhunt", their debut full length was released right after their anonymous demo. After the release, however, Henris decided to disband God Dethroned and he formed Ministry Of Terror, an unusual Thrash Metal band.
God Dethroned was however reborn in 1995 with completely new members. Now lead by a more experienced Henri Sattler, the band focused into developing their classic-influenced technical Death Metal. "The Grand Grimoire" was released by the new formation and the group established themselves as one of the leading bands in the development of the modern variation of the style.
The band released more successful albums in 1999 and 2000 ("Bloody Blasphemy" and "Ancient Ones" respectively) and toured with bands such as Marduk and Cannibal Corpse.
