Grand Belial's Key was formed in the US in 1992 by Gelal Necrosodomy (guitar) and Lord Vlad Luciferian (guitar, vocals). Their first demo, "Goat of a Thousand Young", was then recorded same year. They also played their first live show with Kommando (bass) and Bitch (keyboard). After that Gelal left the band and Lord Vlad tried to carry on. In 1993 he asked Demonic (bass) to join the band but only he wanted to join if Gelal returned.
The band then entered a studio in 1994 to record the second demo, "Triumph of the Hordes", which Gelal was unsatisfied with. He also found out that Lord Vlad used the money they got from demos to buy drugs. In 1995 he was then kicked out of the band and new members entered the band, Lilith (keyboard), Der Sturmer (bass) and The Black Lourde of Crucifixion (drums, vocals). In 1997 they release the 7" EP, "A Witness to the Regicide", and in 1998 the first full-length album, "Mocking the Philanthropist". After the recordings were done Lilith and Der Sturmer had left the band.
In 2000 another 7" EP, "The Tricifixion of Swine", was released. The second album, "Judeobeast Assassination", followed in 2001 along with a split, "Sperm of the Antichrist", done with Nunslaughter. The third album, "Castrate the Redeemer", was also released same year. It was a rerelease of the first album and also included tracks from the first EP. In 2003 a split with Chemin de Haine was done.
