Real Name:Alexander Tsotsos
Profile:Alexander Tsotsos (a.k.a. GummiHz) grew up in Edessa, a little town in the north of Greece. For the last two years he has been making an international reputation for himself as an upcoming DJ and producer in electronic dance music. His inspiration draws from different musical styles: anything from jazz to disco is fair game in the world of
GummiHz. His productions mould elements from his large variety influences with a dance-oriented approach and has been heralded by DJs and critics alike for its propulsive sense of rhythm, rolling basslines, bouncy hooks and psychedelic atmospherics.

While his early musical activities were focused around classical guitar and musical dictation, his first introduction to electronic music was through the Greek electronic bands of his teenage years and the house music from US producers based out of New York and Chicago. Shortly thereafter he began developing his DJ skills and, at the age of 15, started to perform gigs in various venues around northern Greece, mixing house and garage tracks from producers like Junior Vasquez, DJ Pierre, Phuture, Aphrohead, and The Fog.

In 1996 Alex left Greece for England to study engineering, setting up his first home studio to nuture his passion for music making. After successfully obtaining a masters degree in his studies, Alex decided to follow his passion for DJing and music production, with one of his early productions appearing shortly thereafter on Cologne’s Treibstoff imprint. His solo debut in the electronic music world followed a couple of months later with his Select and Bounce EP on mobilee records. This was the start of what was to become a flourishing relationship.

Since his debut he has released four maxi-singles on mobilee and has extensively performed his dynamic mixture of elegant club music for various audiences and promoters in venues worldwide. Recent projects include his first mix compilation for Berlin’s mobilee records, an extensive promotional DJ tour, as well as regular DJ appearances at mobilee’s residency at Weekend club in Berlin.
