Jazz pianist Harold McKinney was a driving force in
Detroit's jazz scene in the '40s. Then he played with John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery. He was part of the Detroit jazz scene. He played with Marcus Belgrave, Wendel Harrison and Phil Ranelin.
His only solo album, 'Voices and Rhythms of the Creative People', was released on 1974 by the city's cooperative independent Tribe label
He passed away on June 20, 2001.
