Highly slept on, but so good. Hipnotech has continuosly put out superb 12"s out on their own label. Really abstract grounded hip-hop but still with a good amount of head-nod ish to it. Lots of visionary Prefuse73 style MPC chops and abstractions, vocal snippets, and beat trickery. It also has the really signature style of Detroit hip-hop all over it. Coincidentally, the DJ Dez instrumental EP is from DJ Dez, a former Slum Village collaborator. These 12's are really hard to find, but they put out all the songs of volumes 1-5 on CD.
