Reviews & Discussion

Review by yanmac Jul 26, 2004 (edited over 7 years ago)
He was also one of the lucky fans that got to go on tour and hang out with Depeche Mode in 1988 on the legendary '101' tour. You can see him (the gothish good looking guy with the also gothy girlfriend - he's the one with the mohican btw) on the classic '101' video & on the recently repackaged DVD there's now an up to date interview with him fact fiends!

A unique act, comprised of video projection, live drum machine and synth, and oliver chesler's demented lyrics. This man will be the next green velvet.

A mixture of industrial attituide and punk style with synth-techno music, The Horrorist is a sensational live act. Playing a set that goes from ambient all the way to hardcore and everything inbetween, there is something for everyone. But the biggest thing about the Horrorist's sets is the interactivity that comes with having a live preformer that a crowd is capable of understanding. This makes him the next Green Velvet in my opinion. Definatly something else, check it out if at all possible.

As for his productions, The Horrorist has worked since 1992 with many of the biggest names in techno. Chris Liebing, John Selway, the Hacker, Frankie Bones, Adam X, and more have all remixed and produced with the Horrorist. His music, starting on the label Industrial Strength then moving to others, including tresor berlin and clr-rec. Now he operates his own label, things to come. His music is always deep and dark, sometmes hard sometimes more ambient. He uses a synth a lot in his tracks, and the synth lines are very distinctive. His tracks progress usually to a cresendo at or near the end. great productions.

The Horrorist is on of those unique artists that only come around once in a while. He is sure to be big, and to be a big influance on the electronic music scene in the years to come.
