IWA

Iwa, the alter ego of Dope Recordings founder, Roy England (Royale), came to the surface after more than a decade of DJing, producing house and techno, and running a successful underground techno label. Roy found that there were certain moods and emotions that he could not capture with other styles of music, and thus the minimalist breaks and ambient soundscapes of Iwa came to light. Composed initially of field recordings which are then torn apart, reformed and born anew, the music of Iwa encompasses, IDM, ambient atmospherics and minimal breaks sounds. All of this comes together to offer a view into the emotions found in one man's journey through life.
