Pooly

Real Name:
Ian Christopher Pinnekamp
Profile:
Hailing from Mainz, near Frankfurt, Germany, Ian Pooley, alongside other nu school German artists such as Mousse T., Boris Dlugosch and partner in crime, DJ Tonka, has been swapping the traditional hard trance/techno sounds typical of some German clubs for the funky and sublime sounds imported from America, to great affects.
Pooley has been bridging the gap between techno and house, creating superb tracks such as the massive 'Celtic Cross' and 'Chord Memory' on the Force Inc. Music Works, as well as recording more housier and disco orientated workouts for labels such as John Acquaviva's Definitive Recordings, Effective Records and NRK Sound Division. Ian has also remixed for Daft Punk, Cardigans, The, Beloved, The, Green Velvet, Modjo, Nick Holder and many more. By refusing to pigeonhole his sound, Pooley records have graced the record boxes of DJs as diverse as Dave Clarke, Justin Robertson, Dave Angel, Judge Jules and Terry Farley. Most recently, Ian has recorded two albums for V2 Records, Inc.; "Meridian" was a classic Pooley album, choc full of tech-house delights and including the massive "What's Your Number" as remixed by Jazzanova and Bob Sinclar. Ian released his second LP for V2 in 2000; 'Since Then' saw Ian move in a more housier, latin direction and spawned the hit single '900 Degrees'.

Just love his music.
I've been listening his stuff for quite a while and he keeps surprising me everytime.
Nite Life :06 he mixed for NRK fits my soul like a glove
and Meridian is a house masterpiece from the beggining to the end.
What more can I say!?
Mr. Pooley is The Real Thing.

Thank You.

This guy is the "phenomeno" ! The first thing I own from Ian was that magical What's your number track (Jazzanova remix). It blew me away, so naturally, I went for more. I loaded up on Nite Life 06 and it's one of the records that gets the heaviest rotation - a true standout. The guy's the Goethe on the turntables! "Since Then" is Ian at his studio self, and it doesn't dissapoint (yet I could do without a couple of the tracks, but hey, that's just me). Recently I came across this sub-Guidance label release that he had a collaboration on, and it's some of the phunkiest stuff I've ever heard a German play! This guy's better than Ollie Kahn!!!

I think he is a genius at producing high quality house music. Older records like "The Allnighter" was more funky and groovy but his last album includes more latin sounds. Btw, his mixes to other producers are very nice too!
