Ian van Dahl burst into the European consciousness in 2001 with their debut single, "Castles In The Sky", featuring fellow Belgian singer Marsha. The group is a collective, fronted by the singer/songwriter Annemie Anna Francine Coenen, and also comprising producers Christophe Steve Fotini Chantzis, Erik Jos Vanspauwen, who together with Coenen were responsible for the first album, for the second album Peter Gaston Louis Luts and David Vervoort became part of the production team. At their live shows, Coenen is supported on stage by two to six dancers. Whilst famed for their chart success, the outfit is equally at home on the clubscene, with around 10 to 12 remixes of each single finding their way into the record boxes of everyone from Tiësto to Armin van Buuren.
After the release of the second album in 2004, "Lost & Found", Chantzis and Vanspauwen left the project.

Luts and Verwoort are also known for their productions with Lasgo, with whom Coenen wrote their hit "Surrender". The support of this co-operative scene has nurtured numerous collaborations and directions, and Luts and Coenen are also working on underground dance tracks outside of Ian van Dahl.
