Illuminated Faces

Roman Tsepelev takes us back to the days of dust masks, glowsticks and living for the weekend. Seizing the optimistic spirit of early acid house and electronica, he forces the spirit of outdoor rave into rather peculiar Russian dimensions, finding a new wave breakbeat sound, fused with deeper shades of emotion. His are sweet melodies and urgent beats designed to make you clutch the hand of a stranger and smile.

Illuminated Faces is a brainchild of only one person - Roman Tsepelev. In 2006 his first CD "Roadbag" was released on St. Petersburg label "Extra Music", and got a good press. A year later Roman became a winner of an annual "Red Bull Music Academy" contest. Also Roman appeared on the "Afisha picnic festival" (Moscow), "Stereoleto" (St. Petersburg), microfestival "Howdoyoudo" in Shanti club (Moscow), made remixes of Two Lone Swordsmen and Modul. Illuminated Faces tracks were played on Radio 1 (Prague) and in Thomas Fehlmann's (The Orb) radio program. Broad musical outlook is unquestionable Roman's merit - he willingly experiments with broken rhythms, sentimental melodies and airy ambient landscapes.
