Reviews & Discussion

Review by Mamanez Jul 18, 2008
Bigger than expected, considering it was only two people. Now with White Stripes and The Ting Tings, we are used to duos making a huge sound, but even now, they are conventional. Technology has been exploited to layer tracks making a huge sound, but without all the layers, they lack the power of In Sensorium, where the limited instruments physically affected you, whether vibrating you, soothing you or assaulting you. There was nothing conventional about In Sensorium. Not the music, grand, sweeping, powerful and eerie, but at the same time, empty and still. Perhaps that is what made it awesome - the stillness of threatened violence. Sometimes melodic and at other times discordant, soft and hard - so much clashing yet also gelling.
The lyrics were articulate, poetic, incomprehensible, harsh, angry, scathing and contempuous. Sometimes you feel it is a passing thought and other times, you are mocked and scolded.
Words do not do them justice and it would be interesting to know if they have influenced other bands despite their brief existence.
