Excellent comments about the history of the Instant House
production team, on which I'd like to elaborate a bit.
I think it's really historically important to know who Instant House is/was: It was a collaboration between
Joe Claussell, Stan Hatzakis and Tony Confusione.
The 3 of them worked together on ALL the Jungle Sounds Instant House productions EXCEPT for Lost Horizons,
which was done without Stan's involvement.
We all know who Joe is, but at the time he was an unknown yet brilliant up-and-coming DJ/Musician/Producer.
Stan was the owner of the original Dance Tracks, where I worked at the time. Tony was a regular customer and friend
of the store, and provided the studio, the engineering,
and did the keyboards and was an active and equal musical parner.
Stan closed the shop and sold it to Joe and Stefan Prescott, and the rest is history: Joe worked hard with Stefan to build the store, while working on his own label,
Spiritual Life Music.
As Joe became more and more successful with DJing, remixes
and production, he sold his share of the store business,
to concentrate on his own label and career, and continues
to make guest DJ appearances all over the world, as well as
work remixing and producing his own and other people's
music.

East Village, NYC. 1988: An array of heroin addicts, $3 crackwhores & conniving transsexuals wander aimlessly throughout, meanwhile, three elusive cats begin experimenting with some studio equipment. The result is 'The Beginning', an eerily appropriate title as this is to be the start of the journey foregone by one of the biggest yet still relatively unknown electronic groups of the 20th Century, Instant House.

After making a relatively minimal impact with the cult EP release "The Dance Tracks EP", Instant House unleashed one of the defining 12"s of the early nineties in "Over". The raw as hell instrumental laced with a Robert Owens sample commanding "All Over..." again pre-empted the turn their career was about to take, Instant House was about to be ALL OVER the world.

With "Over" selling in excess of 250.000 copies, it was bound to catch the ear of someone who could elevate them to that next stage. And catch the ear it did, in heavy rotation on all mainstream radio throughout the UK & Ireland, you were hard-stretched to not twist on the radio dial and hear the instantly familiar "Over". Luckily for Instant House, a down & out Irish fellow who was struggling to make it within the American Music Industry had returned home to Cork, Ireland to visit family. This fellow was none other then "The Edge" of U2, who himself was relatively unknown at this point as they had yet to release their groundbreaking album "The Joshua Tree", "The Edge" was captivated by the simple, raw emotionally evoking groove of "Over". After purchasing the "Over" 12" & wearing out the grooves, "The Edge" knew he needed to come in contact with Instant House. This however was no easy feat, as the trio were recluses, shunning public attention & prefering to spend their days digging for rare 12"s. "The Edge" persisted though, traveling to the East Village turf that Instant House regulary stomped on & convincing them to come on tour with U2 to help promote their new album. Intrigued by the idea of being able to travel to different cities & dig for rare promo 12"s, Instant House agreed.

This was to be the beginning of the next & final leg of Instant House's journey. With Instant House going on a worldwide tour with U2, their record label 'Jungle Sounds' knew it was necessary to follow up "Over" with a new single. This new single was "Awade", a raw percussion driven track with the instantly familiar vocals of 'Jungle Sounds' head honcho, Jungle Boy chanting ah-wah-day. This single also achieved strong commercial & radio success throughot the UK & Russia. Instant House went on to tour throughout the world with U2 on "The Joshua Tree" tour but unfortunately trouble within the group caused them to disband at the close of the tour. The rawness and funk of "Over", "Awade" & "Lost Horizons" live on in the mind of those that were there, but unfortunately to the rest of the world, Instant House has been forgotten.
