The man who told us, "its time to lie down and be counted", Mixmaster Morris has been of the leading exponents of ambient in the UK since its beginnings as club music. Classics like Hymn (as Dreamfish) take me straight back to the early nineties and the more recent Irresistible Force album is equally innovative. The Irresistible Force remix of Autumn Leaves was on one of my decks when they were nicked and is much more sorely missed than the deck it was on. As for some of his mixes on early Solid Steel... absolutely essential. Morris avoids the pitfalls of ambient music - his stuff is NOT the cliched, boring stuff that sometimes passes for ambient
