Norwegian 9-piece instrumental band that started out in Tønsberg (a small town outside Oslo) in 1994, at which time Lars Horntveth (the main songwriter in Jaga) was 14 years old.

I just saw them in Montreal and they were magical. They played a new track where they all just stop and start singing. Other times they were so tight and did crazy drum 'n' bass beats. What is amazing is that I had the choice to either chill to their music or break out and dance my little heart out. Never turn down the opportunity to go see them live.
Jaga Jazzist are a big young Norwegian band (there's 10 of them and none of them look over 25). They each play more than 1 instrument. When they play live, it's difficult to fit them and their instruments on stage...the vibrophone is particularly space-consuming!
To describe their sound is not easy: think Cinematic Orchestra meets Aphex Twin and your about half-way there.
If you ever get a chance to see this group play live, don't turn it down.
