Jay has been producing music for the last six years. In that time he has created many successful compositions and gained many admirers in the elite areas of the industry. After creating concept records in 1994 jay’s first recording gave him instant success appearing numerously on 1 fm and hammered by all the top jocks in the land. an inquiry from Paul oakenfold led to jay first remixing and then signing an original composition to the very respectable perfecto records. over the last few years he has created new label concepts flammable UK (with weekend world and Nat Monday) and black ice recordings which is jay’s own label. jay has produced numerous tracks for the label as fatheads, sisko and (his perfecto guise) ‘Angeles’. He has the adaptability to be able to produce full vocal or instrumental tracks which keep the label fresh and different even though most of the tracks are written by the same people. Jay has returned to his roots this month by remixing for perfecto. He aims to return where he left off a few years ago pushing the Angeles project to the max.
DJ Tiesto is a great admirer of jays past track sisko - ‘Light over me’ so much so that he has asked to remix it. he says it is one of his favourite recordings and wants to do the mix because he loves the melodic structure and vocal content.
Black Ice is jay’s personal vibe. Dark, moody and minimal, less obvious than the energetic vibe of flammable and his successful Angeles projects. Black Ice is the label which is once again putting jay on the map. Ice is a label that has the pioneering sounds that has a different concept than the rest. This label is all about atmospheres. Not how many are sold or who played it, it’s about feeling, pure and simple. Sometimes making a record is knowing what you don’t want to make and evolving it from there. Some of the Ice releases are very minimal and most are not peak time recordings. Because of it’s nature the label may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but I am not here to win friends but try to influence people into listening to the music on a different level.
Jay’s recordings have given him the chance to play in some great cities. Jay hasspinned mostly in the US in places like Las Vegas (utopia), Panama city, (club levila), Orlando (sapphire), Miami, Tampa, Atlanta and many more. He is looking forward to playing the UK circuit now that he has good representation.
