The first record I bought at the time of release and checked the credits to see who was behind such a fantastic production was Secret Cinema 2 - "Sundance / Straight Forward" and the last was "Chica-go" which he produced under his own name. It was then that I remembered "hey I know that name!" and decided to dig deeper.
While "Chica-go" could probably fall into the 'house' category it's this guys techno that (for me) makes my hair stand on end. Just lately I have picked up the double pack "White Men Can't Funk" - Secret Cinema and am writing this while listening to Point Blank - "White Noise"
Whilst most of today's minimal mob focus on how little they can put into a track I'm enjoying discovering productions from guys like this who fills up all the gaps.
Words that come to mind while listening to this particular track are, "deep, meaningful, purposeful, unmistakable and unforgettable". Words that very little of what I hear today conjure up. In fact very much the opposite sadly!
With "Timeless Altitude" being the track most people will know Secret Cinema for I'm always intrigued and excited when I see the name Jeroen Verheij somewhere on a record.
