Jim Duvall aka George Yung/Devol is one of those artists to keep an eye out for. A producer on Addictive Records (USA), label from Saeed and Palash, whose musical style is hard to describe. Things that come to your mind when you hear his tracks are dark, groovy, trance and minimal, but most of all you will say "Where did he come up with the ideas for this track?!".
Jim Duvall aka Geroge Yung/Devol, born in Washington D.C. now lives in Reston, Virginia.
As for the genre of music that Jim produces,he has a hard time explaining his music. "I can't really describe the music I make. Some people say it's progressive, some say it's Trance and some say it's experimental. I'm really
not sure how to describe it. Maybe it's all rolled into one. I really don't like this music genre thing. It's just confusing to me. To me, it's just the way I feel when I write. I don't try to write for any one style, because I think you could put a label on yourself. So, I leave that to the people."
Just like all producers out there, Jim has his influences. "It is whoever comes up with the strangest sound. I'm really into sounds. If I hear a sound that stands out, I try to find out who it is. I think Timo Maas and Herbert have some really fucked up sounds. That is what really impresses me, how the producer uses those sounds. And I don't care what kind of music it is."
As for the future, it looks bright for Jim. "I have the sixth release on Addictive Records. This will be Devol 'Confusion'. It's dark and groovy with a lot of weird shit happening. I don't know but maybe you can call it head music. That's the best way to describe it. Should be out by March. Then, I have three trax coming out on Red Square Records. L.E.V.O.D. 'Aqualung', 'Altered States' and 'UFO125'. They should be out sometime in April. Also, a track for Oxygen Music, Kruezmon 'Source of Life', also due out in April. And the big news is signing with Bedrock Records, E.V.O.L.-D 'Insect' and 'Nervous Nuance'. I was so surprised when John Digweed called me to tell me he was interested in tracks that I had done. I think that day I almost shit myself. I just hope the DJ's like the tracks as well as the club goers. Hell, without those two things I am nothing."
