John Landis Fans

Profile:
John Landis Fans is probably one of the most veteran bands of the Spanish music scene. Since their beginnings in 1983 they have reinvented and transformed themselves via changes in their name (reducing it to JLF, to once again recover their original name) and musical orientation, without this meaning a loss of coherence of a band that always has moved around the innovation.
With their first project, this band from Zaragoza released their first album titled "Triskaideikadelika". The album and the live shows of that period reflected the group's curiosity for experimentation, in sound and in the visual aspect. Their shows became performances where cabaret met psychedelia met B-series terror.

A period of inactivity followed this tour, with a posterior trail of changes and reorientation of their music with the inclusion of electronic elements. Dance music was more present in the songs of the new JLF project, their concerts becoming parties where dj's, musicians and show were more like a club than a simple live show.

In that period they made some appearances with the classic ballet of Zaragoza, another of their curious activities. From that moment, finally as a duet (Arturo and Flappi), they begin to work on their future album and work as remixers for popular Spanish pop bands such as Australian Blonde, Nosotrash, Soul Mondo or Bunbury, voice of Héroes del Silencio, one of the top selling Spanish rock bands.

In the beginning of 1999 they included a track, "Cosmic Wallpaper", in the "Cosmosound 3" compilation, as a preview of their new album. And now, at last, here it is "Songs For The Frozen Latitudes", one of the long-awaited works of the Spanish electronic music scene, with the vocal contributions of their Zaragozan friends from popular bands of the city, Bunbury, Eva Amaral and María. The album shows the end of the long way walked by John Landis Fans looking for a sound of their own as reflected in this new album "Songs For The Frozen Latitudes", rich in references: house, funk, soul, drum'n'bass, jazz, dub, pop, techno… Flappi and Arturo have made a compact and powerful production ranging from cosmic funk atmospheres, warm soul and cool house, creating songs with which you can feel the feelings and emotions of the frozen latitudes.
