P.S. I love you is a good start for those unfamiliar with the work of Kid 606 as it is accessible and unlike " Down with the scene"
the listener who prefers melody as opposed to percussive creations can eckspeckt highly exotic interpretations of melody.
The first few listens of "P.S. I love You" will have the listener put off by what seems to be caustic, harsh elements but these qualities give way
to something that is at once sharp as razors yet attractive enough that the listener will start to interpret that harshness as something highly
articulated and mysteriously soothing. Kid606 also demonstrates a fluency in stuttered percussion which gives this work longevity; each consecutive listen yields some spectacular layer or element which was hidden before. Few artists can make the sound of a razor shaving a chalk board sound so beautiful and this creation abounds in the exotic and the unexpected.-Review by Mark anthony.

once upon a time i thought that Aphex Twin was the most complex, intricate, innovative, and musicaly skilled artist in the electronic music seen. Until 99' When Kid 606 punnished my head for the first time, and i still pleasure the punishment. The Kid's new album 'Kill Sound Before Sound Kills You' is an absolute masterpiece, especially the track 'ecstacy motherf**ker'. I truly believe this man is the KING of all styles of elctronic music. Recommende for ALL

Kid 606 is the epidamy of Post Modern music.
Post Modern art is different from modern art, in the sense that it reflects on the past, and Modernism does not. Modernism rejects the past. So as Kid 606 reflects the past, he becomes Post Modern music. Not to mention that the only people who appreciate his music, are the people who've HEARD the music which he quotes and directly references. I LOVE kid 606, and i think he's one of today's most brilliant electro acoustic musicians.

Heard is set at Sonar on Peel last night - he really is incredible. You have to have a sense of humour to appreciate it, but I just love it. It's the sound of one man just being a right noisy bastard and making a bleedin' racket, in a creative way. Well, generally in a blatant way, but I can only take so much prog before I have to listen to something like this for a bit of contrast. Great stuff, but I don't think his mother would be very proud.

I'm getting tired of these "complex" artists. Complex is OK if the sounds have some musical quality. This guy has no talent -- unless the ability to string together bleeps and machinery hum is considered to be quality "music".

This inaccessible stuff is what gives electronic music a bad name. Whatever happened to driving bass lines, rocking drum machines, and euphoric melodies?

I guess I'm just not "deep" enough for this "music" that this chump creates.

I got burned buying "The Soccer Girl EP". I've learned my lesson.

A good way to start listening to Kid606 is to buy "Down With The Scene" and then go home and turn it up really loud right when the first track starts and wait about 10 seconds. Another fun thing is to get this thing called "Sonic Decimator" and hook it up in your Native Instruments or whatever software setup you have and pretend that you are Kid606. You will most likely find however that your tracks will not have the complexity, nor be as enjoyable, as any tracks on down with the scene.
For more fun try getting a copy of "Attitude" which is a 3" cd of NWA remixes out on the Kid's own tigerbeat6 label. It's just like being an angry kid again, except this time your anger sounds like it's going through the idmdspmofo-blender and coming out better than it went in, in most cases.
Kid606 shines the brightest on his whispier more emotional songs, like the 15th track on down with the scene, and a couple tracks on "ps, I love you." There is of course times when gabber-fast noise is just what is needed, and kid606 has lots of that.
