L'Trimm

Profile:
Miami-based teen rap duo and best friends Lady Tigra and Bunny D were discovered and signed by Paul Klein at Hot Productions studios when he heard them fooling around with raps in a recording booth while waiting for a friend. After their first single "Grab It" drew attention, they were signed to Atlantic Records and released three bass-heavy albums, even though they didn't have respect as rappers in the hip hop community due to their poppy, girlish delivery. They left the label during the recording of their third album "Groovy" after disputes over the direction of their sound, and the album was completed with half-finished vocal tracks the girls had previously recorded. They broke up soon after and left the music biz. Lady Tigra resurfaced in 2006, however, with a solo album slated for release in 2007.

Reviews & Discussion

L'Trimm (Bunny D. and Lady Tigra) started rhyming as young girls in Southern Florida. Although only teens when their careers began, they left a mark in the hip-hop scene with three bass heavy, bottom thumping albums—1988's "Grab It!," 1989's "Drop That Bottom," and 1991's "Groovy." L'Trimm were voted "Hip-Hop Goddesses of the Month" in the November/December 1989 issue of The Source.

Miami Bass with two sweet girls which voices are so high and small, but the correct antidote to the booming, heavy beats. I like them, but not when they're making hip house.
